| “ | The eighth mini-album [We are], released after the renewal of the contract, is an album that changes the 'I' of the 'I' series that started with the debut album I am to 'We' and contains the story of 'us' who have walked together through the past. It continues the unique style that has been shown so far, and you can feel the aspiration for a new start of 'us' who are starting again.
The title song "Good Thing" that opens the album is a song that stands out with Soyeon's unique cool and confident lyrics such as "This is really haha, really funny and fun." The retro sound instruments that lead the entire track and the witty 8-Bit Sound of the second verse add a sensual mood to the song. The second song 'Girlfriend' is also a song that adds Soyeon's own color to the cute consolation given to a friend who has gone through a breakup, and the rhythmic drum and guitar sounds combined with each member's unique vocals double the charm of the song. The third track of Yuqi's self-composed song, "Love Tease", is a disco genre song that the kids have never tried before, and the song maximizes the unique and sensual identity of the kids by adding Yuqi's unique melodic top line to the minimal retro track. "Chain" is a song with Minnie's unique dreamy top line that expresses the children's sensual changes as they enter a new chapter with various sounds. In particular, the bold and direct lyrics boldly capture the children's growth and inner changes. Miyeon's self-composed song "Unstoppable", which was included for the first time in the group album, is a groovy and refreshing pop track in the R&B genre, and the novel-like lyrics with emotional words add to the fun of listening to the song. The ballad "If You Want", which Shuhua participated in writing lyrics for the first time in 8 years since her debut, was completed as the last track by fully capturing Shuhua's delicate and warm emotions, despite it being her first time writing lyrics. This album, which aims to express a new beginning and a high leap forward through bold attempts and unpredictable expressions to show the artist's side as an artist who breaks away from the existing framework, is the first time since their debut that all members participated in writing and composing the lyrics, containing the meaning of 'us' in the album, and you can clearly feel the musical style of each member in each track. On April 9, 2025, Cube Entertainment confirmed that (G)I-DLE is currently in the midst of preparations for their upcoming album, scheduled for May.[2] On May 2, they also announced that they will be releasing their eighth mini album on May 19.[3] On May 5, a series of video teasers revealed the eighth mini album to be titled We are.
